Thema tymor yr Hydref / Autum term theme

Ein llinell ymholi y tymor hwn yw:

''Beth yw pwynt dysgu mathemateg?''

Ym Mlwyddyn 5, bydd dysgwyr yn archwilio sut mae mathemateg yn cysylltu â’u bywydau bob dydd a’r byd ehangach. Byddant yn datblygu eu dealltwriaeth o rif, siâp, mesur a data trwy ddatrys problemau bywyd go iawn ac ymchwiliadau ymarferol, gan weld sut mae sgiliau mathemategol yn cael eu defnyddio mewn meysydd fel arian, amser a phatrymau mewn natur. Bydd y thema hon hefyd yn cael ei haddysgu ar draws Meysydd Dysgu a Phrofiad eraill: mewn Gwyddoniaeth a Thechnoleg, bydd disgyblion yn defnyddio mesur a thrin data i gynllunio a phrofi ymchwiliadau teg; yn y Dyniaethau, byddant yn edrych ar sut mae mathemateg wedi llunio hanes dynol a sut mae’n cael ei ddefnyddio wrth fapio a deall ein byd; yn y Celfyddydau Mynegiannol, byddant yn archwilio patrymau mathemategol mewn cerddoriaeth, celf a dylunio; ac mewn Ieithoedd, Llythrennedd a Chyfathrebu, byddant yn defnyddio rhesymu ac esboniad i gyflwyno eu syniadau’n glir. Yn y modd hwn, bydd dysgwyr yn gweld mathemateg nid fel pwnc ynysig, ond fel offeryn pwerus ar gyfer gwneud synnwyr o’r byd o’u cwmpas.

Our line of enquiry this term is: 

“What is the point of learning mathematics?''

In Year 5, learners will explore how maths connects to their everyday lives and the wider world. They will develop their understanding of number, shape, measure and data through real-life problem solving and practical investigations, seeing how mathematical skills are used in areas such as money, time, and patterns in nature. This theme will also be taught across other Areas of Learning and Experience: in Science and Technology, pupils will use measurement and data handling to plan and test fair investigations; in Humanities, they will look at how maths has shaped human history and how it is used in mapping and understanding our world; in Expressive Arts, they will explore mathematical patterns in music, art, and design; and in Languages, Literacy and Communication, they will use reasoning and explanation to present their ideas clearly. In this way, learners will see mathematics not as an isolated subject, but as a powerful tool for making sense of the world around them.

Thema tymor y Gwanwyn / Spring term theme

Ein llinell ymholi y tymor hwn yw: 

"Sut mae digwyddiadau'r gorffennol wed siapio ein bywydau heddiw?"

Byddwn yn canolbwyntio ar yr Ail Rhyfel Byd, gan edrych ar brofiadau pol gyffredin a sut y newidoedd cymdeithas o ganlyniad i'r rhyfel. Drwy'r gwersi hyn, bydd y plant yn dysgu i fyn cwestiynau am y gorffennol, cymharu bywyd ddoe a heddiw, archwilio ffynonellau hanesyddol, ac esbonio sut mae'r digwyddiadau'r gorffennol yn dal i effeithio arnom ni heddiw. 

Erbyn diwedd yr ymholiad hwn, bydd y plant yn deal bod hanes yn chwarae rhan bwysig yn siapio pwy ydym ni heddiw. Rydyn ni eisiau iddynt fod yn chwilfrydig, yn feddylgar ac yn gallu gwneud cysylltiadau clir rhwng eu gorffennol a'r presennol, gan ddatblygu dealltwriaeth ddyfnach o'r byd o'u cwmpas. 

Our line of enquiry this term is: 

"How have the events of the past shaped our lives today?"

We will focus on the Second World War, looking at the experiences of common people and how society changed as a result of the war.Through these lessons, the children will learn to ask questions about the past, compare life yesterday and today, examine historical sources, and explain how the events of the past still affect us today. 

By the end of this enquiry, the children will understand that history plays an important role in shaping who we are today. We want them to be curious, thoughtful and able to make clear connections between their past and present, developing a deeper understanding of the world around them.
