Thema tymor yr Hydref / Autum term theme

Ein llinell ymholi y tymor hwn yw:

''Beth yw pwrpas dysgu mathemateg?''

Y tymor hwn, bydd dysgwyr Blwyddyn 6 yn archwilio sut mae mathemateg yn cysylltu â’r byd ehangach a’u dyfodol. Trwy gyd-destunau bywyd go iawn, datrys problemau a meddwl yn greadigol, byddwn yn darganfod sut mae mathemateg yn ein helpu i ddeall ein hamgylchedd, cynllunio ymlaen, ac agor drysau i gyfleoedd. Byddwn yn dysgu sut mae mathemateg yn cael ei ddefnyddio mewn gwahanol swyddi—o bensaer a pheiriannydd i gogydd, meddyg a dylunydd gemau—ac yn gweld sut mae’n helpu pobl i wneud penderfyniadau, datrys problemau a chreu pethau newydd. Byddwn yn gofyn cwestiynau mawr, herio rhagdybiaethau, ac yn datblygu gwerthfawrogiad dyfnach o sut mae mathemateg yn siapio ein bywydau.

Our line of enquiry this term is:

''What’s the point of learning maths?''

This term, our Year 6 learners will explore how mathematics connects to the wider world and their future. Through real-life contexts, problem-solving and creative thinking, we’ll discover how maths helps us make sense of our surroundings, plan, and unlock opportunities. We’ll look at how maths is used in different jobs—from architects and engineers to chefs, doctors and game designers—and how it helps people make decisions, solve problems and create new things. We’ll ask big questions, challenge assumptions, and develop a deeper appreciation of how maths shapes our lives.

Thema tymor y Gwanwyn / Spring term theme

Ein llinell ymholi y tymor hwn yw: 

"Sut mae digwyddiadau'r gorffennol wed siapio ein bywydau heddiw?"

Byddwn yn canolbwyntio ar gyfnod y Tuduriaid a'r Rhyfel Byd Cyntaf, gan archwilio newidiadau mawr mewn pŵer, crefydd, cymdeithas a bywyd bob dydd. Drwy'r gwersi hyn, bydd y plant yn dysgu i fyn cwestiynau am y gorffennol, cymharu bywyd ddoe a heddiw, archwilio ffynonellau hanesyddol, ac esbonio sut mae'r digwyddiadau'r gorffennol yn dal i effeithio arnom ni heddiw. 

Erbyn diwedd yr ymholiad hwn, bydd y plant yn deal bod hanes yn chwarae rhan bwysig yn siapio pwy ydym ni heddiw. Rydyn ni eisiau iddynt fod yn chwilfrydig, yn feddylgar ac yn gallu gwneud cysylltiadau clir rhwng eu gorffennol a'r presennol, gan ddatblygu dealltwriaeth ddyfnach o'r byd o'u cwmpas. 

Our line of enquiry this term is: 

"How have the events of the past shaped our lives today?"

We will focus on the Tudor period and the First World War, exploring major changes in power, religion, society and everyday life. Through these lessons, the children will learn to ask questions about the past, compare life yesterday and today, examine historical sources, and explain how the events of the past still affect us today. 

By the end of this enquiry, the children will understand that history plays an important role in shaping who we are today. We want them to be curious, thoughtful and able to make clear connections between their past and present, developing a deeper understanding of the world around them.
